In the heart of the old Rotterdam, a narrow triangular undeveloped strip between the Verlengde Willemsbrug, Wijnhaven and the Willem de Kooning Academy, this 70-meter high residential tower (formerly known as Bright) by Tangram Architekten for students and starters is situated. This location along the Axis of Science has a number of interesting advantages. It has a unique view over the city and the river, excellent accessibility and all urban amenities are within walking distance. The development of this promising location requires a building that represents a pivotal position between the two parts of the city, literally shows the short stay housing and also enhances the public space of the immediate vicinity. On this special but small building plot, This high rise will provide space for approximately 650 apartments for students and young professionals. In addition, space will be created in the lower layers of the building for catering establishments, shops and office buildings. Due to this open character in the lower floors, street life is continued within the boundaries of the building. The facade is clad with panels with our Panelox technique in AluBronze01 and AluBronze03. The design is based on an old photo of the bombed city in 1940.
